A hawk I spotted on high above my house in Kigali. Over the lush green hills of Rwanda’s capital, the raptors would always come out to hunt in the final hour of the day, a very beautiful sight.
Often the camera fails to capture the eye’s impression of the scene accurately. Much of the post-production work on the digital negative involve adjusting the exposure, contrast and white balance until the shot was as close as possible to my mind’s eye of the image. Sometimes the photographer finds himself spending a quarter of an hour making the subtlest adjustments. There’s a definite feeling when the image in your mind and the image on your screen line up and match.
